Marketing Communications Director

Position Summary:
The Marketing/Communication Director will be responsible for evaluating and implementing creative and effective strategies to improve promotional and recruitment opportunities for the Ohio colleges.  Through utilizing a project management approach, the successful candidate will manage events, scan competitive environment, coordinate advertising & media relations and lead marketing & promotional efforts.  Project management, media relations, and communications/marketing plan development required both to internal and external constituents.  Excellent oral and written communication skills, and project management skills are required. Graphic design backgrounds a plus.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Marketing/Communications Focus
  1. Coordinate and execute the college’s public relations plan including the coordination of a communication strategy for events and associated media releases.
  2. Coordinate and ensure implementation of appropriate communication strategies by using existing, or in some cases creating new, tools in an effort to successfully implement a marketing plan.
  3. Perform speech and article writing, ghost writing, brochure and poster evaluation and recommendation, and assisting in the preparation of associate communiqués.
  4. Provide feedback on print, broadcast, outdoor and web page advertisements, video script writing and editing.
  5. Assist in the coordinate overall media relations for the campuses by establishing and maintaining business and media contacts with the goal of creating highly effective partnerships to ensure maximum exposure of the college.
  6. Increase community awareness of the college through public relations activities with the goal of continuing to enhance the brand awareness of the college.
  7. Assist in the compiling, analyzing and distribute marketing and lead generation statistics and data to measure progress toward goals.
  8. Represent the college at community functions when appropriate.
Admissions Focus
  1. Work to maximize revenue and lead generation including the identification of alternative sources of leads.
  2. Accountability to the overall team goal through an integrated approach to sales and marketing.
  3. To identify opportunities for revenue and lead generation and maximization of all marketing efforts.
  4. Ensure that BSC follows ethical and accepted communication practices and that BSC standards are met on all projects.
  5. Consult with Market Management team to develop communication strategies for issues management, associate communications, and external communication to stakeholders.
  6. Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of media expenditures.
  7. Assist in the Management of lead generation within the Marketing budget.
  8. Participate as a member of the Market Admissions Team.

Secondary Job Responsibilites:
  1. When requested, advise on dealing effectively with the media.
  2. Initiate and organize media training opportunities for those who deal with the media.
  3. Direct faculty and staff in the creation of strategies for promotional and recruitment purposes.
  4. Keep current with technology, innovative marketing techniques, communication trends, and political operating environment through extensive reading, memberships and involvement with peers in Northeast Ohio.
  5. All other projects as defined by the Director of Ohio Colleges/Market Director of Admissions.

Qualifications
  1. Post-Secondary education in the areas of Public Relations, Media Relations, Marketing or Communications with related work experience
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, sales and/or communications
  3. Project management experience desired
  4. Experience with color printing, project management, desktop publishing, media relations and communications/marketing plan development required
  5. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  6. Ability to work with little or no supervision, to persuade & motivate staff and to work as a team player
