College Receives Major Award for HR Students Accomplishments

Virginia Beach, VA – Bryant & Stratton College’s Virginia Beach Campus has received the Society of Human Resource Management’s 2010-2011 Merit Award recognizing creative and innovative programs and services to its student members.

“SHRM is the world’s largest human resource management association,” said Virginia Beach Campus Director Lee Hicklin, “and our chapter’s Merit Award is one of 17 presented among the organization’s 450 student chapters worldwide. It was also just one of two presented to college chapters in Virginia.

“We congratulate our SHRM chapter’s membership, especially Mary Moore, valedictorian and Cheryl Holman, salutatorian, our SHRM chapter leaders who recently graduated; and also Tonya Chapman, Cheryl Holman and Beth Kinsey for creating the awards submission with the guidance of Kathleen Newton, director of our business and human resource degree programs.”

Chuck Salvetti, SHRM’s student and young professional program manager, said the Merit Award recipients “worked extremely hard this year. Their efforts to provide networking and educational programming … are evidence of their desire to achieve.”
