Will Stein Named Head Coach of New Women’s Bobcats Volleyball Team

Hampton/Virginia Beach, VA (January 4, 2016) – Bryant & Stratton College Hampton & Virginia Beach campuses have officially announced Will Stein as the first Head Coach of the new Women’s Volleyball team for its inaugural season. The team will begin training and competing in Virginia Beach for the upcoming Fall Semester of 2016.

As a Virginia Beach native and graduate of Virginia Tech, Stein returned home to become the Executive Director of Tidewater Volleyball Association and currently holds the title of the 50 year old Virginia Beach based organization. Coach Stein has been instrumental in TVA’s recent return to success within the local volleyball community. He has also served as a Head Coach for the nationally recognized Coastal Virginia Volleyball Club since 2003 as well as an Assistant Coach for Western Branch’s Boys’ team from 2002-2007.

Stein earned his degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2002 with minors in Communications and Humanities, Science & Technology. While at Virginia Tech, Stein led the Hokies to three conference titles. His honors included three-time Best Setter in the EIVA Southern Conference (2000-2002) and Virginia Tech Sports Club Athlete of the year in 2002. He led the program to two top five finishes at the national championship tournament while amassing a better than 90% win percentage over the course of four years.

After college, he continued to play in the USA Volleyball Open finishing 5th in 2010 with the Virginia Beach based Men’s Club, Blackout. Stein began coaching with the Boys’ program at Western Branch HS in Chesapeake earning Southeastern Conference championships in 2004 and 2005. He also began his Women’s volleyball coaching career with Coastal in 2003, and later gaining a championship title at Richmond’s South Atlantic Championships, back-to-back annual titles at Philadelphia’s PVA Invitational, and 5th place finishes in Minneapolis at the Northern Lights Qualifier and Houston’s Lonestar Qualifier. Over the past 12 years, his Coastal teams have qualified for USAV’s Junior National Championships and finished in the top 16 of both the Open and Club divisions of the AAU National Championship.
