What is a BSN? A BSN stands for Bachelor of Science in Nursing. It’s an education many hospitals require from their nurses to help them receive Magnet status as a healthcare organization of excellence. At Bryant & Stratton College, we offer a BSN Generalist program to help you gain the practical clinical skills and evidence-based instruction you need for life-long nursing success.
How long does it take to get your BSN? As with most bachelor’s degree programs, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) takes around four years to complete. At Bryant & Stratton College, our Generalist BSN program offers 125-credit-hours of instruction over eight semesters to provide the experience, credential and insights you need to take and pass the NCLEX-RN for your Registered Nurse (RN) designation.
Do I have to get my RN before my BSN? No. You can earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing before taking the NCLEX-RN exam and gaining the Registered Nurse (RN) designation. In fact, the Generalist BSN program at Bryant & Stratton College covers the gamut of healthcare and nursing essentials you’ll be tested on in the NCLEX-RN.
What can you do with a BSN degree besides nursing? Not everyone who earns a Bachelor of Science in Nursing becomes a Registered Nurse (RN) or even pursues a nursing career. Some professionals turn their skills to a career in the research and development arm of pharmacy industry or in other laboratory settings.
How to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing? Start with your high school diploma or GED. From there, find the nursing school that fits your needs and your future goals. Apply for admission, enroll in classes, complete your clinicals and you’re on your way to a BSN.
