Bobcats Defeated in USCAA National Championship

The Bryant & Stratton College Bobcats fell short of their National Championship aspirations in a dramatic penalty kick defeat to the University of Maine-Fort Kent. Despite playing much of the first half with a man advantage after a UMFK red card, the Bobcats couldn’t find the back of the net. BSC would eventually fall victim to a red card of their own and the sides would finish regulation and extra time with 10 players each.

As the golden goal overtimes played out just as regulation did, BSC and UMFK prepared for penalty kicks to determine the USCAA National Champion. Fernando Baptiste put BSC up with their very first kick, but the Bobcats were unable to convert another try. Meanwhile, UMFK leveled the penalties at one after Rodney Witner’s attempt and Stefan Petricevic would convert the winner on the Bengals’ last shot.

The championship loss took BSC one step closer than they were in 2014, losing in the national semifinals. While the sting of this year’s defeat will linger, the Bobcats will be prepared to take their final step to a title in 2016.
