Instructor’s Love of Learning Becomes the Best Job She can Imagine

Holly Klingler, M.A., M.L.I.S., works in a library. But there is nothing quiet and contained about her day.

Instead, she spends her hours darting between the needs of 540 libraries in northeast Ohio, providing training, leading discussions in strategic planning and teaching kids how to code.

Klingler you might say is super librarian. Oh, and the classically trained philosopher also teaches online Bryant & Stratton students career development theory and practice.

“I’m a bit of a workaholic,” Klingler says. “I wear a lot of hats.”

Klingler says she enjoys the challenge of learning, and teaching, new techniques and information. When the library needed a graphic designer, she leaned graphic design. When they needed someone to teach coding, she learned and did the same for other emerging technologies.

“I am such a nerd that all of these things are fun for me,” she said. “I love to learn though sometimes you don’t have a big enough head for all the hats you want to wear.”

Klingler began her own degree path in much the same way, learning what she loved. She earned her bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religion studies with a minor in medieval studies.

“I wasn’t looking at it as a way of being practical,” she said. “Now, being older I look back and know I should have chosen something a little more job oriented.”

As an instructor at Bryant & Stratton she said she loves that the school has a career services department to help students sharpen their focus and turn their dreams into goals.

Klingler’s eclectic studies landed her in a library position. Ten years later she left for a job in human resources and finance, but desperately missed her days at the library. But now, she had focus.

She earned a master’s degree in library and information science and returned home where she has turned her passion for learning into an exciting career she loves.

“When I went to college people would ask me what I was going to do when I graduated. I said, ‘I don’t know’. Bryant and Stratton helps students know and meet their goals,” she said.
