Early Childhood Certificate
Have you been thinking about a career in teaching, or do you want to take your career to the next level?
You may want to consider becoming certified as a Child Development Associate® (CDA). The Child Development Associate® (CDA) Credential™ is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE), and it is a key stepping-stone on the path of career advancement in ECE (CDA, 2023).
This certificate program is available at our Buffalo and Rochester locations.
Program Highlights
Obtaining your CDA shows employers you are committed to the early childhood education field and are proficient in the following competency areas:
- Promoting health and safety in the home environment
- Enhancing parents’ skills to advance children’s physical and intellectual development
- Promoting parents’ use of positive ways to support children’s social and emotional development
- Understanding family systems and development
- Managing an effective home visitor program operation
- Maintaining a commitment to professionalism
- Working across the child welfare continuum
- Understanding the principles of child development and learning
Course Highlights
Continuing Education now offers a certificate program in Buffalo and Rochester. This 18-week certificate program meets the 120-hour requirement for the CDA exam. (Within three years of submitting your application, you must also have 480 hours of professional work experience at a center-based program)
Students will take the following courses as part of their certificate program:
- ECED101 Foundations in Early Childhood Care and Education
- CDAV 103: Bootcamp Readiness Seminar 1
- ECED102: Child Growth & Development
- CDAV 104: Bootcamp Readiness Seminar 2
- CDAV 105: Bootcamp
Included in the program are:
- Understanding the CDA Application and Testing Process
- CDA Exam Study Guide – Exploration and Practice
- CDA Predictor Test
